Haruka transforms into the tough Sailor Uranus, the most physically able of the Sailor Senshi. From an early age Haruka sensed her destiny was different from what she actually wanted, and form this she developed a love of speed, thinking if she could go fast enough she could perhaps outrun this destiny. That was not to be, however, and after she made the split second decision to join Sailor Neptune as a Champion of Justice there was no turning back.

It could be said that if it was anybody other than Michiru who offered Haruka her transformation pen that she would have refused. They share an intimate romantic relationship and the strength of this bond keeps them together and keeps their faith and determination high to complete their mission. Although Haruka enjoys flirting with other girls, she only has feelings for Michiru, who knows this and often teases Haruka about her flirting. In their relationship Haruka tends to hold the dominant role, and she can become quite posessive and jealous, as Seiya discovered!

She attends Mugen Gauken Academy along with Michiru, although she wears the male uniform there, one of the reasons she often gets mistaken for a boy. Haruka doesn't seem to mind this though, and in fact revels in the extra attention and being able to confuse people (like Usagi!).

Haruka's love of speed gives her great ability in most track and field sports, especially sprinting. She is also highly adept at car racing and motocross, a talent that some competitors find rather frustrating! She is also knowledgeable in the technical side of cars and is a great mechanic.

Along with Sailors Neptune and Pluto, Haruka has a special talisman as part of her pure heart crystal in the form of a diamond-hilted sword, which she draws power from for her 'Space Sword Blaster' attack.

To those who don't know her Haruka can seem cold and easily annoyed, especially in matters relating to her mission. In reality she has a very dry sense of humour, especially with Michiru, although she does have a cold logical side when it comes to achieving goals. In an almost ruthless example of this she and Michiru sacrificed themselves and the other Outer Senshi in a bid to fool and defeat Sailor Galaxia in the Stars series, a manoevre which almost worked for them. To do this they had to pretend to be traitors, which few, if any, of the other Senshi could done.
