Usagi is the former Princess of the Moon during the Silver Millennium of 1000 years ago. Daughter of Queen Serenity, she ended up comitting suicide after witnessing the death of her lover, Prince Endymion of Earth.

She has been reborn along with the rest of the Sailor Senshi as Usagi Tsukino, a rather hyperactive girl with a major weakness for cute guys and junk food! When she transforms into Sailor Moon however, she is the ultimate leader of the Sailor Senshi, who pledged their allegience to ger upon realising that she was the true Moon Princess (Sailor Venus had been acting as a decoy Princess beforehand). Arguably the most powerful of the Senshi, Sailor Moon's power comes not from super attacks or damaging offensives, but from her inner power and strength of character, as well as her pure desire to do good. It is this that controls the Imperial Silver Crystal, which illuminated the Silver Millennium when used by Queen Serenity and in the future was used by Usagi (who by then ruled the Earth as Neo-Queen Serenity ) to protect the entire planet from attacks by the likes of the Black Moon Family.

Usagi is a kind, loving but very jealous girl, who won't let anything come between her and Mamoru, her destined future husband. In the future the Earth is devastated by an ecological disaster, and in the early 30th century Sailor Moon uses ther power of the Imperial Silver Crystal to re-energise the planet and begins her rule as Neo-Queen Serenity with Mamoru as King Endymion. Based in a revamped Tokyo called Crystal Tokyo, the have a daugher, also called Usagi but tended to be called Chibiusa.

Academically, Usagi is far from great, finda studying a bore and has a hard time passing exams. She also has a bit of a mental block when it comes to cooking as well, although she does make a mean curry on occasion! She loves eating, sleeping, manga comics and generally drooling over guys, although her heart will always be for Mamoru. She proved this on numerous occasions in the Sailor Stars season, when Seiya tried to get together with her.

Usagi lives with her parents, mother Ikuko, father Kenji, brother Shingo (Sammy in the English dub), Luna, and on occasion Chibiusa and Chibi-Chibi.
